GCLI Overview
The mission of Global Connections Language Institute is to create language courses that equip students to further their capability in work and ministry situations worldwide.
Teaching English as a Foreign Language & Teaching World Languages
In the GCLI Teaching English as a Foreign Language and Teaching World Languages programs students master marketable teaching skills with the dual goal of enabling them to enter the world marketplace within the seven mountains of influence and to function well in a ministry setting also. A 30-minute informational meeting about these programs is scheduled for two Sundays, September 11 and 18, from 1:00 to 1:30 in the Hospitality Suite.
- GCLI offers certificates in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) or Teaching another World Language.
- The complete course of 75 hours meets from September 22 through April 26 with holidays, conferences and other events aligning to the Bethel Church and BSSM schedules.
- The course hours include two classroom observations and nine hours of practicum or tutoring with international students.
- Required classes are held on Thursday evenings (6-9pm in Mod 1) with electives on Friday afternoons (3-5pm in Mod 4).
- Master a fun, lively and effective teaching strategy infused with Kingdom core values.
- Learn specific skills in HOW TO teach a language with comprehensible input.
- Teach a mini-course in a world language and practice your skills.
- Tuition is $495 (includes books and materials) or $475 for BSSM students, Bethel members and seniors and is payable in a single payment at the first class or in two equal payments at the first class and at the November 17 class. Family member discount: the first member pays full tuition and each additional family member receives a 25% discount. We do accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.
Attendance:
Students are expected to attend classes regularly and punctually. During the course of this program, the maximum number of absences permitted is four of the required classes. Exceptions to this policy will be made for extreme circumstances and emergencies only. If a student's absences total more than 4 classes, he or she will not receive a Certificate of Completion, but may still attend classes.
Refund Policy:
In the event that a student withdraws from the TEFL program within the first semester and has previously paid their tuition in full, they may receive a refund of up to 85%. This refunded amount is based upon a pro-rated monthly portion of paid tuition. After January 15th, tuition is non-refundable.
Accreditation:
Global Connections Language Institute is not an accredited school with the State of California. Therefore students are not eligible for financial aid, student loans, or grants. However, GCLI TEFL faculty are highly qualified and do meet state and federal standards as instructors in this program.
